The Prince George Crime Stoppers Association has a new name. The civilian, non-profit, charitable program is now the Northern BC Crime Stoppers Society. This change of name reflects the program's plans to expand its service area to other communities in Northern BC.

In British Columbia, each Crime Stoppers program is community-based. The Prince George Crime Stoppers Association was formed in 1985 to serve the city of Prince George. However, in recent years, the program has received an increasing number of tips from other communities in Northern BC. Crime Stoppers programs in Quesnel, South Cariboo, Valemount, Vanderhoof, Williams Lake and, most recently, Northeast BC Crime Stoppers have ceased operations. Currently, there are only four Crime Stoppers programs in British Columbia north of Kamloops: Northern BC Crime Stoppers, Bulkley Valley Crime Stoppers, Terrace Crime Stoppers, and Prince Rupert Crime Stoppers.

Northern BC Crime Stoppers is proud to partner with the media, police and residents of northern BC to help solve crime. The society is independent of the police and is run by everyday citizens like you. Crime Stoppers provides citizens with a vehicle to anonymously supply law enforcement agencies with information about a crime or potential crime. Cash rewards are offered to people who contact the program and provide information which leads to an arrest, seizure of drugs or weapons, or recovery of stolen property. Community members can provide information by calling 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca.
